Early start this morning, we were on the road by 8.00am. The food wagon drove on ahead and when we pulled into the services near Nuremberg at about 10.15am there was a full English breakfast waiting for us in the car park. Since then we have been driving on towards the Austrian border where we are now at 4.45pm awaiting issue of our toll cards for the Austrian motorways. That is likely to take an hour or so and then it will be into Austria and time to start looking for somewhere to stay the night.. There is more to finding an overnight stop than you think ! We need somewhere close to the motorway to avoid us all getting separated in traffic on the smaller roads and we need somewhere with a car park and enough rooms to house the vehicles and all the drivers.
So far we have now driven 1100 kms since leaving Leeds. The temperature is currently 18C and it is drizzling. Its been cloudy on and off all day. The forecast seems to suggest that as we pass through Austria we will move away from the rainy cool weather and things will start to improve.
If anything exciting happens later today I will do a late supplement but in the meantime here is a picture of some of the wagons waiting at the Austrian border.
