Saturday 6th September. Day 2 - ‘Newsflash – Bob the Builder arrested at Gunpoint’ but more of that later.

We arrived in Zebrugge 45 minutes late this morning due to the strong winds and high seas we had to battle through the night. After a brief stop to Rendezvous just outside the ferry terminal we were off and heading east through Belgium. After a stop for lunch and some lovely Essex pie we continued on and crossed into Germany around 3.00pm. This heralded much playing of Land of Hope and Glory, the National Anthem, Footballs coming home , Rule Britannia etc over the CB radio on peoples ipods.

Shortly after crossing the River Rhine at Cologne the convoy was flagged down by the police and led into some services where armed officers explained that the giant bob the builder in the windscreen of the lead convoy vehicle was too big and was illegal. It was a red card for bob but the police wished us well on the rest of our trip. Most of the wagons have small cuddly toys all along the dashboard to hand out to kids as we pass through the poorer countries later on. They were allowed to stay which was good news for our Mascot Millar the Meercat who is happily snuggled in amongst them. ( picture to follow!)

We are now continuing along the autobahn towards Frankfurt where we will be stopping tonight. Current distance driven from Leeds is 520 kms. It is cloudy and the temperature is 18C. Most importantly Leeds lead Crewe by 3-0 with 10 minutes to go.

The food wagon which is not speed limited has gone on ahead to find us somewhere to stay the night and then prepare the chicken curry we are having for tea tonight. The rest of us are trucking along at our speed limited 56mph or 90kms for those of you in Sweden.,

Well that’s it for today .

Join us tomorrow for another exciting episode.
